Yvette Granata is a media artist and filmmaker based in Detroit. She is Assistant Professor of Digital Media in the Department of Film, Television, and Media and the Digital Studies Institute at the University of Michigan. Yvette creates immersive media installations, video art, VR films, interactive environments, and builds hypothetical technological systems. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at art institutions and film festivals including Slamdance, CPH:DOX, Melbourne International Film Festival, Annecy International Animation Festival, Images Festival, The EYE Film Museum, The Harvard Carpenter Center for the Arts, McDonough Museum of Art, Hallwalls Contemporary Art, Squeaky Wheel New Media Art Center, and others. Her most recent VR project,  I Took a Lethal Dose of Herbs, premiered at CPH:DOX in 2023, won best VR film at the Cannes World Film Awards, was nominated for ‘Best of Fest’ at Filmgate Interactive Miami, and received an Honorable Mention at Prix Ars Electronica in Linz Austria. Yvette has also published in Ctrl-Z: New Media Philosophy, Trace Journal, NECSUS: European Journal of Media Studies, International Journal of Cultural Studies and AI & Society.   

She holds a Phd in Media Study from SUNY Buffalo, a Masters from the University of Amsterdam, and a BA from University of Michigan.
